Vikings - A Feast from the Sea (Luxury Buffet)

I've been hearing about Vikings for a long time already but I never had the chance to go there. Good thing a friend invited me to have dinner at Vikings for her birthday. She was supposed to treat us there on a Saturday but I could not join them so she moved it for Tuesday.

There were a lot of people outside. The waiting list was very long and it was only 5:30 in the afternoon. It was not a problem though because the birthday girl reserved a table for us.

When we entered I felt a sudden rush  of excitement. The place is huge. It can accommodate a lot of people. There are various sections for different kinds of food. Naturally it was the area for Japanese that caught my attention first. Good thing the table reserved for us was near that area.

Anyway, here are some pictures I took.

This tuna is really big. The salmon looks small next to that giant tuna but it's still the biggest I've seen so far. You know the fish is fresh because of the sweet taste.

Lots and lots of Japanese food. They come in all sorts of flavors and designs.

The next picture is my first plate from the Japanese section.

If you eat there on your birthday, your dinner will be 'on the house'. All you need is to present your ID and have at least one friend with you. (They need at least one paying person.) Aside from the free dinner, the service crew will sing the Happy Birthday song to you. You'll also get a free cake (yes, different from the cakes you can find at the dessert area).

*Additional notes regarding reservation: Reservations can be made via phone call but you need to do it one to two weeks before the date of your visit. To be on the waiting list you need to go there personally. They will not include you on the list if you just call them. I actually tried this once and they really did not give in. I requested very hard but they were firm about it.

red mango - a hit froyo in town

do you like yogurt?
i didn't grow up liking yogurt...... it was not really popular in our home town when i was growing up.... it is probably not even popular now...anyway, two sundays ago, my friends and i went to red mango at the mall of asia.... when we arrived there, i knew at once that i am going to enjoy the trip....the place has a lively ambiance.....once you enter you'll see right away their tag line "treat yourself well".... interesting....

they have two flavors of yogurt to choose from....one is what they call original and the other is green tea...

original flavor

green tea flavor

then you'll choose the size you want...they have , well, small, medium and large...
i got green tea, medium

then you can choose from their wide array of toppings....

they have crushed grahams...banana nut crunch, crushed chocolate, fruity pebbles....
they also have melon, pomelo, grapes, pineapple, orange, banana, cheesecake, sliced almonds, kiwi, dezato mochi balls, plus a lot more....

you can have one topping, two toppings or three toppings...or probably even more...i had three...i had kiwi, sliced almonds and dezato mochi balls....

the yogurt, as expected is a bit sour...the green tea is more sour than the original flavor...

i think i chose the right toppings....the kiwi is sour...it blended well with the yogurt....the sliced almonds provided the texture....and the dezato mochi balls (some kind of japanese rice cake) was a good neutralizer...

but red mango is not just about yogurt...they also have waffles...there's blueberries n' cream and banana almond...

blueberries n' cream

the price is rather reasonable...you can get a medium sized green tea yogurt for only 120 pesos...the small size is 85 pesos and the large size is 155...for sharing with your loved ones you can get the family size for only 225 pesos...the original flavor is five pesos cheaper...

for the toppings
1 - 20 pesos
2 - 30 pesos
4 - 40 pesos

my friends enjoying their yogurt and waffles

at the  back of these girls, there are bean bags where you can relax with your friends...it's a pity a group of youngsters were already there when we arrived...next time....

i recommend that you try this place...again, ambiance is good, people aren't the noisy (at least when we were there) and of course the food is........well........great....the only thing missing is wifi....you can pickup the malls wifi services but the signal is not that good...

i can't wait to go back there...im gonna try original with mango, crushed graham and kiwi....

cw lifestyle cafe - a place to live life in style

i enjoy spending saturdays and sundays alone...either i stay at home or i go to a quiet cafe where there is wifi so i could write blogs undisturbed...the latter used to be a problem because most coffee shops now are filled with noisy young people as early as 7 in the morning...good thing i discovered lifestyle cafe...there aren't many people here in the morning....usually you'll just find a few joggers who are rewarding themselves with cups of coffee after running around mall of asia...

aside from the quiet i get in this place, i also love their food...their chicken pesto fettuccine is so good...the sauce is creamy...not your usual pesto made with just olive oil and basil...the chicken is also tender...they use white chicken meat so it's healthy...i am not fond of fettuccine so i ask to use regular spaghetti noodles...they also have onion rings that i love...they make it such that it stays crispy for long...you can order it early and still find it crispy an hour or so later...thier chicken parmigiana is also good...like with the chicken pesto they also use chicken breat for this...if you're not hungry and you also do not like to have coffee you can have their cream of pumpkin...so mouthwatering....

as expected, their coffee is good as well...i usually just have cafe americano...a grande you can get for just 80 pesos...their spanish latte is also great...i don't know where else you can find spanish latte in the area...

as i said earlier you can have unlimitted use of their wifi for just a minimum order of 150 pesos...plus you can charge your laptop for free...normally, their wifi connection is strong but if in case problems arise, no worries....sm free wifi is accessible....taste asia also has open wifi connection that can be accessed in the cafe'

cw lifestyle cafe can be found at the ecom building at the mall of asia complex...its right across sm hypermat (sunset avenue exit)....

by the way, im writing this post here at lifestyle cafe
